What People Are Saying

Real Food. No Shortcuts.

“The smoke is patient. You can't rush it and you can't fake it. Real wood, real fire, real food.”

Cory Mc, Da Crack Houze

Got the mac and cheese with brisket on a Saturday. Came back Sunday. I don't do that. The mac alone is worth the drive.

Catered my daughter's graduation. 50 people. Not a single thing left. Cory handled everything and the food was honestly better than most sit-down spots around here.

Finally some real Texas BBQ in this area. The ribs have actual bite -- the way it's supposed to be. Loaded potato is absurd. In a good way.

The Pitmaster

Meet Cory

Cory has been building something her whole life. She just didn't call it a restaurant until now.

She spent years at Franklin Barbecue in Austin, Texas, one of the most respected BBQ joints in the country, finishing cooks, managing the fire, and learning the craft from the inside out. Not waiting tables. The pit.

When she moved to Rockford, she brought all of it with her. She sourced a 500-gallon wood-burning offset smoker (wood only, no gas), named her Scarlett, and spent years developing every item on the menu from scratch.

Da Crack Houze opened at the Loves Park Food Park because Cory wanted to put real food in front of real people. No dining room. No reservations. Just Scarlett, the fire, and whatever is coming off the smoker today.
